Winston Duke is returning to the small screen, set to play the lead role in Apple TV Plus series, Swagger.
Deadline.com first reported that the series is inspired by NBA champion Kevin Durant’s basketball experiences as a youth, and will explore the world of youth basketball, the players, their families and coaches who walk the fine line between dreams and ambition, and opportunism and corruption.
Duke will star as Ike, a youth basketball coach and former star player. Production will begin this month.
The new series marks Duke’s “Swagger” will mark the first regular television role of Duke’s career. Before charming us all in his breakout role as M’Baku in Black Panther, he appeared in several series including Person of Interest, Law & Order: SVU, Major Crimes, and Modern Family.
New streaming service on the block Apple TV Plus is expected to launch on November 1 with a subscription fee of US$4.99 a month.
